A daytrip to Malmesbury, the Cotswolds

21 August 2016

A couple of weeks ago, I hopped in the car with my friend Elinor and we drove off in the sunshine. We wanted a cute little daytrip, and decided to check out Malmesbury, as it’s only about 45 minutes drive from south Bristol. And boy, it really was cute.

I’ll let the photos do most of the talking, but it’s really worth visiting, especially on a lovely sunny day like we had – you can wander the winding streets lined with chocolate box cottages, as well as checking out Malmesbury Abbey and the handful of cute shops and cafes.

Malmesbury Abbey dates back to the 12th century, and is still used for worship today. It’s absolutely stunning. Admission is free, but they kindly ask for donations, as it costs so much to keep the Abbey open. They also have a cafe and bookshop.

If you visit on a Friday, you will come cross the weekly farmers and artisan market, and there are lots of lovely routes to walk. Malmesbury is an Instagrammer’s dream – if you like the perfect, picturesque countryside vibe, you should definitely put it on your roadtrip list for this summer.

For more information head to the Malmesbury page on Visit Wiltshire.
