Bristol Lido: swim, lunch and massage package

14 August 2014

This experience was compensated by Malibu Rum, and my review was not in connection with Bristol Lido itself.

I’ve been working my way through my summer bucket list as a collaboration with Malibu Rum, and today I went for a swim, massage and lunch package at Bristol Lido.

I’ve lived in Bristol for nearly 4 years altogether, and yet, I’ve never visited Bristol Lido – a historic outdoor pool in Clifton, with lots to offer.

On arrival, a lovely lady handed me a robe and some flip flops, and gave me a quick tour of Bristol Lido. I got changed into my huge, snuggly robe, and sat in the treatment waiting room, overlooking the pool and drinking water with slices of oranges and lemons in.

It was relaxing just watching the fun below, and took my mind off the fact that I was a bit anxious about having a massage – my first one ever. Another lovely lady greeted me though, took me to the treatment room and explained what she was going to do, and asked if there were any parts of my body that I wanted her to concentrate on.

The massage… oh my goodness, the massage. It was incredible

Afterwards, I felt totally intoxicated and sleepy. I was taken downstairs to the post-treatment room, which was full of comfy chairs, and offered a herbal tea and lots of water. It was lovely in there, but unfortunately I couldn’t stay for long as I had a booking for lunch.

The restaurant staff were friendly, and the food was good, but maybe a bit fancy for me. Unfortunately, the falafel that I ate had fennel in, which I don’t like. I couldn’t eat much anyway after my hour-long massage, so after a few mouthfuls of delicious blackcurrant sorbet, I was done.

I actually didn’t have time for a swim in the famous Bristol Lido in the end – I should’ve got there earlier, so that I could’ve had a swim before my massage. By the time I was done with lunch, I had to head home to get ready for work.

Oh well, that just means I’ll have to go again…
