What items do you carry around on a daily basis?
My essentials seem to change over time, other than the usual wallet, keys and phone. In the past year, I’ve fully fallen back in love with reading, writing, and music. I often find that when I’m stressed and anxious, these things fall by the wayside, and little pleasures become secondary to just trying to keep on top of basic daily tasks.
What’s in my Drift Records tote bag?
1. So Sad Today by Melissa Broder
Reading is a real treat, one that I truly appreciate after years of not being able to concentrate on it. Just this morning I finished So Sad Today – a collection of personal essays, which started out as an anonymous Twitter account.
“Broder delves deeper into the existential themes she explores on Twitter, grappling with sex, death, love low self-esteem, addiction, and the drama of waiting for the universe to text you back.”
2. She Must Be Mad by Charly Cox
I will be dipping into She Must Be Mad by this evening, I’m sure. I’d choose a collection of poetry and prose over a long novel any day. A coming-of-age theme runs through the book, with a call to destigmatise mental health.
“For every woman surviving and thriving in today’s world, for every girl who feels too much; this is a call for communion, and a reminder that you are not alone.”
3. Moleskine hard cover notebook
Alongside reading often comes writing, for me – I get so inspired. Instead of annotating my books like I used to, I make sure to carry around a notebook all times. I have so many now, littered with half-thoughts and prose. I’m not sure whether anything will ever happen with the things I write down, but it’s good to get it out of my head.
4. Artline pen in apricot
Of course, there’s no point in a notebook without a pen or pencil, and why not make it a pink one? These Artline pens are brilliant, and I’d like one in every colour. If you don’t find me with this favourite pen, you’ll likely find a mechanical pencil or two in my bag.
5. Stojo collapsible coffee cup
I finally got myself a reusable coffee cup a couple of months ago. This Stojo one is brilliant, because it’s collapsible, meaning it’ll fit in pretty much any bag – even little bags! I of course chose the pink with a white lid, but they come in loads of lovely soft colours.
6. Sudio earphones
Finally, some new earphones, kindly gifted from Sudio. I thought they’d be much better for the gym, and lo and behold, they are. I can cycle and lift weights without getting tangled up. They’re also perfect for stomping into town, without having to thread them through all my winter layers, and they’re so light I forget they’re there.
And, just look at them – the perfect colour, and with studio quality sound.
Sudio are currently offering a free gift box with every purchase & free delivery, so if you want to get a last minute Christmas gift, go go go!
