How to wear a vintage-style dress to a Christmas party

Getting an invite to a Christmas party always fills me with joy – it’s one of those events that you can dress up as much as you want and it never really looks too much. In fact, the more sparkle and fancy flair, the better. That’s why dressing in a vintage style works perfectly for me.

I chose this from Joanie’s vintage-style dresses, and had it hanging on my rail for almost two months before I got around to getting some photos of it – but I wanted to do it justice by going somewhere equally as special. So, of course, I headed to The Forge.

This vintage-style black lace dress from Joanie is perfect for so many special occasions, and what’s more, it doesn’t make me feel too over-the-top. As an introvert, I don’t like to stand out too much, but I do still like looking nice. It’s a hard balance to strike, but a black dress works for most events.

The lace fabric is so soft against my skin too – sometimes lace can be a bit stiff, but not this one. It’s super comfy and has a little stretch to it, so if there’s dinner (or even if you just go ham on the finger food) you won’t end up feeling constricted or uncomfortable.

And, if you’re less of an introvert than me and fancy a little dance, the skirt swishes out in the most perfect way.
